Groups for Adults
General Group Information
- Therapy groups are held primarily via telehealth on Zoom, with some in-person offerings at our office near the Van Ness metro station on the Red Line. Our office is wheelchair accessible.
- Therapy groups are always led by licensed clinicians.
- Groups typically have somewhere between 8 and 12 members.
- Most groups are “closed” groups that have the same members for approximately 10 sessions. The sessions are usually either 75 or 90 minutes, and occur at the same time each week.
- Our “closed” groups are typically offered each Fall, Winter, and Spring. We decide which groups we will run based on how many people are waiting for each group.
- Some of our groups have rolling enrollment, meaning we assess new group members year-round. You’ll see that noted next to their names.
Insurance and Fees
We are in-network with the following insurance providers:
- DC Medicaid MCOs: Amerihealth Caritas, HSCSN, Medstar Family Choice, and Wellpoint (formerly Amerigroup)

We also have grant funding available to provide free therapy services to crime victims who are residents of DC or for which the crime occurred in DC.
For other interested clients, you may be able to seek out-of-network reimbursement from your insurer and we are able to provide a superbill. We do take HSA/FSA.

My loved one has a terminal illness
This is a group for adults who have a loved one who has received a terminal diagnosis. The group is primarily focused on processing the grief around the upcoming death, and is not geared towards people who are primarily looking for emotional support around the significant challenges of caregiving.
This is an open enrollment group, assessing potential members year-round. It occurs virtually, every other week on Thursdays from 4-5:30pm.
We have found that the people who seem to get the most out of group are those whose loved one is expected to die sometime in the next 9 months or so, but are always happy to connect you to the facilitator to reflect on your particular situation.
If you’re interested in the anticipatory grief group, please use this form to register. The top of each page has instructions in a light blue bar, and we encourage you to read them carefully!
I’ve experienced abuse in a relationship
Currently this group is for women-identifying adults who have experienced any type of abuse by a romantic partner. This includes physical, emotional, financial, and sexual abuse, among other types.

My work has been impacted by federal changes
This group targets residents of the DC area whose work has been affected by the recent changes at the Federal level, and who are experiencing grief, trauma, or a loss of identity.
This weekly group will address the emotional impact of rapid change, explore grief and trauma responses, and help participants build emotional resilience in a safe and supportive environment.
We are committed to offering this group at no cost to participants. We’re currently waiting to confirm additional funding, so the start date for the next round is not yet set. Check back for updates.
