Ways to Give

You Can Make a Difference

Long hug goodbye

The individuals we serve have faced some of the darkest moments of their lives, and yet—time after time—we have seen them turn hopelessness into hope, and pain into joy. This important work would not be possible without the generosity and dedication of our donors and volunteers.

There are many ways to help grieving children and families heal and move forward, choose the way that works best for you.

Fundraise for Grieving Children

Rememberance boats before launch

We are thankful for our volunteers and their commitment to help grieving children heal. Because of our volunteers’ fundraising efforts, we can continue to offer our camp free of charge to children who need it.

This year, Camp Forget-Me-Not/Camp Erin DC will shift from its traditional format—an overnight children’s camp—to a virtual day camp for families in the fall. Although sleepaway camp is postponed, our volunteers are working tirelessly to ensure that grieving children still have a place to heal that is filled with love, laughter and learning.

Join our amazing volunteers in generously supporting this event.

Plan a Legacy Gift

You owe it to yourself and to your family to make sure that you are prepared for the many events in life that are out of our hands. Planning gives you control and opportunity to provide for loved ones, for your community, and for the causes you are about, like the Wendt Center for Loss and Healing. And it’s easy to do.

Give in Stock

Did you know gifts of stock can give your family a big tax benefit even in a fluctuating market? These gifts can reduce the capital gains you’ll pay without changing your portfolio. Compared with donating cash or selling your appreciated securities and contributing the after-tax proceeds, you may be able to automatically increase your gift and your tax deduction. Make a bigger impact by donating long-term appreciated securities, including stock, bonds, and mutual funds, directly to the Wendt Center for Loss of Healing.

The Wendt Center is currently operating virtually. If you prefer to mail a check, we have a new lockbox location available for your convenience to avoid delays in processing your donation.

The CARES Act created tax code changes for the year 2020: there is now no limit to the deductions you can take for charitable contributions if you itemize your donations. Previously, you could only deduct up to a maximum of 60% of your adjusted gross income (AGI) via charitable contributions. But under the new guidelines, 100% of your donation is now tax deductible. So please give generously today!
